This replaced a fine 'historic' house in the 1870s. Demolished in 1949.

Where's Canning Town? |
The Manor House in the centre of Mildenhall, Suffolk; just to the North of the church. It was demolished in 1934. Combination of the family diminishing and high land value.

Where's Canning Town? |
Manor house - possibly Elizabethan (E-plan) but looks to have been altered later. Significant parkland too.

There is a striking resemblance in topography to the set EPW044878. A different date and also unfortunately also unlocated.

A moated manor house, location unknown. The previous photo in the sequence, EPW039760, is of Bracon Lodge, Bracon Ash, South Norfolk. The countryside looks similar in the two photos. There is no EPW039762. So possibly this is a moated manor house somewhere in Norfolk or Suffolk.

Channonz Hall.
Approx 20km south south-west of Norwich |

Possibly earlier house with later additions - note the stepped gables but the almost French-style roof on the tower on the hidden entrance front.

Definitely Eastbury - have postcards of the house and grounds - burnt down around 1969. Carpenders Mansion -AKA Highfield school in the distance

House now identified as Swillington House in Yorkshire
Class31 |
A remarkably large house - feels Victorian gothic, possibly Yorkshire or Lancashire, possibly incorporating an older house. The addition of the wing shown to the south could indicate that the house has now become a school as it could be a dormitory.
Similar to Hornby Castle but differs in the details: http://www.ecastles.co.uk/hornby.html |

Canford School, near Wimborne Minster, Dorset

Country house with extensive open-cast mine workings to the foreground. House is unfortunately in the shadow but looks to be Classical.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Large Classical country house added to what appears to be an older tower - possibly a pele tower, which could indicate Borders, or Northumberland. Also note the wing to the beyond the tower - seems to be 'E-plan' which could be an even older house. The large wing at the other end seems slightly-oversize, perhaps Victorian.
This house has the feel of one which has been added to over successive eras. |

Along with EPW027279, they show the rear and side elevations but unfortunately not the main front which would probably make this easier to identify.

Reminds me of one of the NT houses I've been to but can't think which one it is.

Country house just visible to bottom left - but have a look at the larger building to the north of it, another house?
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
This looks like a house which has become a school; note the number of tennis courts, playing fields, a swimming pool with diving board.
The house itself looks to be Georgian with Victorian extensions, sizeable conservatory on the right, and an elegant loggia to the garden front. |
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Interesting double exposure - is it intended to show before and after? It seems to be a large, Victorian semi-gothic mansion. Any ideas?

This is St John's House Ryde, Isle of Wight.

Very difficult to make this one out but there appears to be a large old building on the banks of a wide river. May even be a ruin. Note also partially shown house bottom left.

Suggest that this is Berwick House near Shrewsbury on the banks of the River Severn.

Lovely smaller Gothic with matching stables - of note is the quite large house built below it - a dower house maybe?
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
This is Queen's Tower in Sheffield. The house still exists and is close to Park Grange Tram station.

This one will be instantly recognisable if you know it. Fantastic late (?) Georgian house with projecting corner wings and a distinctive tri-portal decoration to the centre - note the 'Adam-esque' swags underneath each. That garden must be well-known too!

Hi, this one is Ragley Hall near Alcester, Warwickshire. Home of the Marquess and Marchioness of Hertford and open to the public. http://www.ragleyhall.com/

This is a tough one - the skyline of a country house just rises above the trees in the middle of the image with ogee-capped turrets on the left. A bit Knebworth?
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Wonderful Scots-Baronial house - very distinctive.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Lovely smaller Regency villa - possibly a rectory though rather than a country house.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Victorian/Edwardian. Perhaps something on the upper reaches of the Thames?
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Possibly Thornbridge Hall (http://www.thornbridgehall.co.uk/) according to the comments - I'm inclined to agree.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Rather rambling house - feels a bit Pugin.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Interestingly mixed house with different styles (Italianate small tower, crenellations to left wing etc) and levels.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Earlier house (?) with mixed later additions - some look Victorian such as the slightly incongruous Italianate tower.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Impressive Georgian house with one-storey attached pavilions.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
A classic Georgian pile with extensive service wings and gardens surrounded by parkland.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Fabulous Gothic pile - most probably Victorian (shades of Alfred Waterhouse). Similar to Alton Towers and Eaton Hall, Cheshire and Worsley New Hall, Lancashire.
Matthew Beckett - The Country Seat |
Do have a look at the distinctive projecting circular bay window on the lower left of the house.
