This will be the Lead Works. The dust used to settle on nearby roof & this is why the 'Royal Hotel' was nicknamed 'The White Lead' due to the dust. The photo is from my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website |

Bonnacord St named as a tribute to the Aberdeen workers who came to work in Mr Leslie's new Shipyard in the 1860s. Bonnacord means 'Good Agreement' in French & is Aberdeen's Motto. |

Hebburn Ferry Landing. The photo is from my website www.oldtyneside.co.uk. Years ago people could get to Wallsend or Walker from the landing & it was well used by the workers in the shipyards. Hebburn men might have worked across the river & Wallsend people worked on the Hebburn side at places like Reyrolles & not just the ship yards. |

The 'Royal Hotel' nicknamed The White Lead due to the white dust from the lead factory across the road landing on it. Today nearly 100 yrs later in 2013 the Hotel has been renovated & given its old nickname 'The White Lead'. |
