Ann St. Roughly where I've placed the pin was where a couple of houses were hit by German bombs in WW2. The houses were never replaced & a gap is still in that terrace today (see my photo) . The Quay Board School sandwiched between Caledonian St on the west & McIntyre St on the east.

This was a Hostel, originally for Palmer's workers. In the 1950s possibly the 40s it was known as Simpson's Hostel'

This land & the derelict buildings were once Hebburn 'C' Pit

This land with the black coloured sheds was the Newcastle Shipbuilding Companies from 1919 to 1921 when it went bankrupt. The sheds stood empty for quite a while & in the late 20s early 30s the Reay Gear Works took over the sheds & started producing gearwheels & gearboxes. George Angus & Co eventually took over & later in the late 50s early 60s it became R W Transmissions. It finally closed down in the mid 70s & is now a housing Estate called 'Tyne View'
