| The 'Reay Gear Works' at the bottom of Prince Consort Rd. Later it became George Angus & Co (Gear Division) & later still Richardson Westgarth Transmissions or RW Transmissions. I know this as I worked at RWT from 1966 to 1971 as a Fitter. It finally closed mif 1970s & the land is now a Housing Estate called 'Tyne View' |

| The Tharsis reservoir. It had steeply sloping brick lined sides & when looking into the water you couldn't see the bottom. It was probably 30ft deep & very dangerous due to the sloping sides. Tharsis moved out of Hebburn & left that Reservoir unfenced. Consequently a young lad called Colqhoun who was my age drowned in it about 1950 ish. |

| The Tharsis Sulpher & Copper Company which started in Hebburn in the 1860s. In the late 40s early 50s when I was a young lad, they'd pulled out of the town leaving derelict land & buildings & a dangerous deep reservoir. I know of one lad who drowned in the unfenced reservoir. Today that Company would have been heavily fined. |
