Shot tower (for making lead shot) remained till 1951 Festival of Britain when it was used to beam radio programmes(?)then demolished

Other sources say the shot tower...erected in the 1820s...survived until the 1960s.

The shot tower was still there in the late fifties, as I lived in the area.

The British Pathe site has a film recording of the shot tower at night taken to mark the festival opening. The tower is acting as a lighthouse wih a rotating beam of light. Pretty! Search their site for "The King Opens Festival".

In the same film, the lights at the front of Festival Hall look as though they were designed by Dr Freud.

Wonder how many huge Coade Stone lions there were. Huddersfield had one (now a fibreglass replacement).

As the lions were moulded and the moulds were kept there could be loads, see Wikipedia for list of some, there were 3 Coade lions on the brewery. 1 is in Twickenham Stadium

Near the bottom, you can see a turntable and a steam engine being turned, This turntable was known as Belevedere Road.
