Other sources say the shot tower...erected in the 1820s...survived until the 1960s. |

The British Pathe site has a film recording of the shot tower at night taken to mark the festival opening. The tower is acting as a lighthouse wih a rotating beam of light. Pretty! Search their site for "The King Opens Festival". In the same film, the lights at the front of Festival Hall look as though they were designed by Dr Freud. |

Wonder how many huge Coade Stone lions there were. Huddersfield had one (now a fibreglass replacement). |

As the lions were moulded and the moulds were kept there could be loads, see Wikipedia for list of some, there were 3 Coade lions on the brewery. 1 is in Twickenham Stadium |
