It is certainly Bootle Golf Club but it is not Stanley Park, which is a couple of miles away and out of the picture. Possibly it is Stand Park which this area is marked as on old maps.I lived in Gardner Avenue (just visible halfway down the left margin) 1930 - 1945 and we used to call this housing development "the Litherland estate" but that might not have been its official name. The new Dunnings Bridge Road, then under construction, is visible as a straight scar running right to left sloping downwards. It was completed in 1937. |
