Just west of the River Gairn joining the Dee is an island. This appears on the 1955 Ordnance Survey. On the photo there is just a general widening of the Dee. The rivers in the north of Scotland quite often change course after a spate or create/destroy small islands. |

These buildings are still visible from the road as you approach the Girnock Burn Bridge, though the northern part has since been demolished and only the chimney is left. |

The village of Littlemill. The Girnock Burn runs under the road where the S bend lies. It then swings NE before going up to Balchellach and joining the River Dee. |
