Built in 1972 and falling well into lack of maintenance by the 2012 occasion of the London Olympics.Notwithstanding it was only built with a 25metre length, it was impossible to 'offer' it as training facilities to visiting countries for the 2012 Games. By the time 2014 arrived the Labour council had had money given to them by the Conservatives(!) in government, and a total demolition & rebuild was to be undertaken from 2014 for 2 years. It will still only have a 25 metre pool and possibly, much to the lack of consultation with local user-diving clubs, no 5 metre diving board. |
