I lived at 63 Western Way from the time it was first inhabited 1949 until 1960 when we moved to Basingstoke. We had Central Heating in every room from October to April and Hot water in the taps all year. The rent man came every Monday. This was the first New house my Parents rented from Salisbury City Council that had a Bathroom. I grew up on Bemerton Heath and had a wonderful time with friends and neighbours. We had a street party one year with a carnival feel I was dressed up in my repainted pedal car as a Walls ice cream van that came into Western Way weekly.
