Victoria Arcade, as can be seen was between Waterloo St, and Goat St. Now White Walls\Princess Way-ish! There is a photograph of the interior showing the first Marks & Spencer shop in Swansea, several times that photo has been posted on Facebook, mistakenly as Alexandra Arcade, which ran from High St, to Orchard St. |

There has been a market on the Oxford St, site since 1830. The pictured market opened 1897, Swansea's first market with a roof, it had at the time, the largest cast iron, and glass roof of any building in Britain. |

This is the fly tower of the Empire Theatre. Note moveable dome on flat roof of auditorium. This could be opened to let foul air out between shows. Not used after second world was.
Theatre demolished 1957 |

If one stands to the west of the 99p, shop, the site of the former Empire Theatre, at the roof-line of the lower adjoining building, there can still be seen blocks of Portland Stone, and courses of red bricks, this is part of the facade of the theatre. |

Slightly out with pin, Empire is next building along with sliding dome on flat roof. This pin is on a building that I remember as British Home Stores, I think, before rebuilding after the blitz when it moved to other end of Oxford st near castle Gardens. |
