This is where they made ATCO Lawnmowers and the ATCO Car for teaching children the rudiments of driving. It was the last Birmingham built car to appear before WWII.

Formed 1901, later became famous for the Atco Mower(1921) and Senspray carburetter as well as the Alfred Appleby Cycle Chain.

1955- Company granted Royal Warrant for lawnmowers and tractors.

1965- Became a subsidiary of Qualcast.





Founder Charles Vernon Pugh, born 1869 in Rotherham.

In 1891 lived in Sutton Coldfield, founded the Whitworth Cycle Co.

In 1894 director of Rudge-Whitworth and living at Penns.

In 1899 chairman of Lanchester Motor Co

1902- chairman of C H Pugh Ltd

In 1911 lived in Coventry.

1921 - died.
