Hangleton Bush Cottage, Portslade. Demolished. The site is now a small children's play park between Bush Farm Drive and Warrior Close.

Foredown Tower, Portslade. The water-tower of the isolation hospital called Hangleton Hospital, also shown, but now demolished. The tower survives as an Edwardian landmark in the area and it houses a camera obscura.

An old chalk-pit at the bottom of Benfield Way, hence the roads were built around it.

The site of the house and buildings of Aldrington Farm, Hove.

The site of the Aldrington Estate office next to Iver Lodge, Portland Road, now part of the car park of Portslade Station. The Aldrington estate had fallen into the hands of the Duke of Portland in the late 19th century, during a period of property speculation when plots of land were being sold to developers. It was still there in 1912, but was gone the next year.

Greens sponge mixture factory, Portland Road, Aldrington, Hove, on land which was once part of Aldrington Farm. Horace J Green, a grocer from Brighton, developed sponge cake mixtures which he sold in his own shop from 1907. His mixtures were so successful, he had opened this factory by 1913, which was still operating into the 1980s.

CVA machine tool factory on land once part of Aldrington Farm. It was to be opened as a temporary building in 1917 but plans were changed so it could operate as a munitions factory in 1918. It began making machine tools in the 1920s and the site was extended in 1926. In 1934 it split with CAV of Acton and changed its company name to CVA Jigs Moulds & Tools Ltd. By the late 1950s, it had multiple sites in the Brighton area, including new sites in Hollingbury. In 1966, the company was bought by Kearney & Trecker, and in 1973, the Portland Road site, and others, closed and moved to Hollingbury.

New Barn Farm, Portslade

The ancient drovers' road, now called Foredown Road and an extension of the nort-south Foredown Road which meets it.

Site of Portslade windmill and also the approximate area where a Roman tesselated pavement (floor) and other Roman artefacts were found.

St Nicolas Church, Portslade, with the remains of one of the few Norman manor houses in the country just to the north. Demolished in 1809 by John Borrer, lord of the manor, when a new manor house was built just to the east, using demolition rubble from the ancient manor house to build a folly in the garden. The 'new' manor house became a nunnery but is now Emmaus, a charity dedicated to helping the homeless, which operates a second-hand superstore on the site.

Site of the Grenadier pub (built 1938) at the junction of the ancient roads which became Hangleton Road, West Way, Applesham Avenue and Nevill Avenue.

Easthill House, Portslade. Built in 1848 by Edward Blaker on the site of a much older house, probably Churchfield House, where Edward Blaker lived previously. Easthill Park is open to the public, with a children's play area, football field, cafe converted from the old toilets and Portslade War Memorial within the grounds.

The old chalk-pit at the junction of Hangleton Road with the Old Shoreham Road, Aldrington, Hove. Marked on Yeakell and Gardner's map of 1783, it was still evident in the 1960s, when it belonged to the water board. Now Aldrington Place care home and sheltered housing.

St Helen's Church, Hangleton, the oldest building within the City of Brighton and Hove.

Site of the medieval village of Hangleton. Now built over, save for the garden of the Downsman pub, now closed.

Anglo-Saxon boundary hedge between Portslade and Hangleton. Still survives today.

Hangleton Manor. Still survives as a popular pub and restaurant but most of the associated buildings have gone.

Benfield Manor, Hangleton. Only the barn survives as the clubhouse of Benfield Golf Course. The course was opened in 1912 as West Hove Golf Course, but the southern section was removed to make way for Hove Park Lower School, Sainsbury's supermarket and Greenleas Park. The northern section remained as Benfield golf course while West Hove Golf Course moved further up The Downs.

Atlingworth Barn, Portslade, the last remnant of Atlingworth Manor. Demolished in the 1960s.
