' St Nicolas Church, Portslade, with the remains of one of the few Norman manor houses in the country just to the north. Demolished in 1809 by John Borrer, lord of the manor, when a new manor house was built just to the east, using demolition rubble from the ancient manor house to build a folly in the garden. The 'new' manor house became a nunnery but is now Emmaus, a charity dedicated to helping the homeless, which operates a second-hand superstore on the site. '
