The break in the houses indicates where the new Metropolitan Line (later Bakerloo, noe Jubilee) will have its new station. The houses near the station site will be demolished to make way for a shopping parade. The 1933 image here shows the newly opened station and to the far left are two of the remaining houses hat will be demolished.
