The buildings adjacent to the canal at the end of Lingards Lane is shown on the 1929 O.S. as being a boat yard. All had gone by 1953 when the next O.S. was published. The maps can be found on old-maps.co.uk The screen shot shows the Wagon & Horses at the top and Morleys Hall surrounded by trees in the bottom left hand corner.

Thanks, I lived in Astley, the 1929 made me physically sick when I looked at the building and effect that A580 had to peoples farms and fields.
