This building is currently part of the Metropolitan Police estate on the Peel Centre (Hendon Police College) site. It is known as Building No 36. As part of the training centre redevelopment, it had been planned to demolish this building, as it is not listed. Thankfully, owing to considerable public indignation expressed during the consultation meetings, the Met were forced to review this decision. The first episode of the BBC Channel 4 programme "Brick By Brick: Rebuilding Our Past" was about moving the building from one side of the RAF Hendon site over to near the RAF Museum in order to make way for the housing development on the site. So here is a real surprise, from my most recent visit to RAF Museum Hendon. Aerofilms Ltd's first proper office, into which the firm moved having used a bedroom suite at Claude Grahame-White's London Country Club! Instead of coming to the museum via Edgware Road/Colindale Avenue on the 142 bus and foot, I was in a car which was driven along Aerodrome Road. I couldn't quite believe what I saw, and came out for a closer look as soon as I had a spare moment from the day's activities. I had thought this building long gone, under the Metropolitan Police College campus, because its footprint is no longer outlined on the modern OS map. I guess it must have been incorporated into the larger structure(s) on the site. This area is being redeveloped.
