The Alms Houses where my great grandmother lived in her later years. She occupied the first flat on the left through the main arch during the late fifties. Royal Free School now converted to flats. I was a pupil from 1959-1962. In the summer we would have the ‘acre’ as our playground. This was just unmade rough gravel ( great for grazed knees!) A local baker would visit with a tray of Chelsea buns for sale at morning break.
