Site of the encampment and hutments for the 406th Coast Battery, 561st Coast Regiment RA, part of the 23rd Coast Artillery Group during WWII. Manned by the Royal Artillery, the Royal navy, the Royal Marines and a detachment of the 5th Battalion (Workington) Home-Guard. It was a footbridge over the railways lines in to the dock with steps at each end!!!!
