ELPaCo works, home of East London Packing cases. My dad worked here for many years before it closed. I also had a summer job here in the late 60's

This pond was thought to be "bottomless" by local wise folk,no idea why,it looks a bit like a stray W W 2 bomb crater. I have since spotted this pond on a photograph that pre dates WW2, bang goes my bomb crater theory.

Stream emerged here from the 6 foot culvert starting in Elmbrige road. Later extended to Fairlop Waters about 1960.

This stream enters a culvert here. Built with granite blocks a set of steps carries the stream to the culvert about 4 feet in diameter blocked by a set of bars to prevent entry. There is as we dicovered a severe bend in the last bar on the right hand side which allowed us entry.A few feet in ,under Elmbridge road another culvert about 5 feet in diameter enters a large chamber from the right. Leaving immediately opposite is a large 6 foot diameter culvert which emerged on the allotment site roughly where I have marked. This was extended to what is now Fairlop Waters about 1960.

Forest road prefab estate, lived there as a boy. Also often referred to as "TOYTOWN" by non residents.Wonderful place to grow up in as two brothers.Hundreds of other kids to play with(it was almost compulsory to have two children to live there)Surrounded by fields and the remains of Fairlop airfield, air raid shelters, derelect buildings, streams, trees to climb, plus a thousand and one other "far too dangerous to do today" things to do.
