??? What is causing this in a canal? Even if the canal bed was not even, would the water flow like as in a river? What is making it flow river like?

I note that on the other photos that there are no two showing the same break of water.

I think this is a discharge of water from the factory on the right-hand side of the canal which is disturbing the surface of the canal.
