Daniel Adamson's tower from which a large Union Jack would be flown on important occasions. The tower was also famous for its hooter which sounded at regular times throughout the day at morning, lunch time and evening. Every one could set their watches by the hooter and those without used it as a guide for their time keeping.

Overhead magnetic crane used for lifting steel plates off the main lines bogie bolster railway wagons and stacking them underneath before transferring them to the works own wagons to then be taken by 'Little Enoch' into the erecting shops for turning into boiler plates and riveted together into boilers.

Spoil heaps: known as the Pit Hills where the waste from the former Astley Deep Pit. These hills were used as a vantage point for children to watch the trains shunting wagons in and out of Dewsnap Exchange Sidings. The hills were also used as a ski slope on which children would use old hearth tins or corrugated steel sheets to slide down on.
