SD&R engine shed built 1861. Designed by William Peachey, and was one of the S&DR’s last developments before the company was absorbed by the North Eastern Railway in 1863. Possible new home for the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.

Line to Barnard Castle and further westwards. There was a triangular junction here. The line opened 1856, and closed 1964 to passengers and 1965 to goods traffic. The first station to the west was Piercebridge - see http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/p/piercebridge/index.shtml for a history of the line.

Railway level crossing, removed with the line in the 1970s. As of 2017, there is still a fence providing evidence of this crossing.
