These locos didn't have a "tender". They had two power bogies, with the boiler and the cab hung between them. Basicly one bogie carried the water supply and the other, at the cab end, the coal. The first locos built had a long open coal bunker which meant that the fireman had to climb inside to shovel coal forwards. The later locos had a revolving tapered drum which moved the coal forwards. The early batch of locos was then modified to have a revolving drum. |

I can also read locomotive number 48618 which was a Stanier 8F locomotive. It entered service in September 1943 and allocated to 18A Toton in 1948. It was withdrawn in September 1967. |

I can also read locomotive number 8204 which was a Stanier 8F locomotive. It was built in Glasgow by the North British Locomotive Company in July 1942 and allocated to 18A Toton in 1948. It was withdrawn in August 1967. It's British Railways number was 48204 |

I can read the number of locomotive 8182 which was a Stanier 8F built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in April 1942. It was allocated to 8A Toton in 1948 and withdrawn from Stockport Edgeley May 1968. It's British Railways number was 48182. |
