This was a timber bridge over the little riverside road . A rare photo of it is on my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website. It was constructed using massive square section timbers. As kids in the late 40s early 50s us kids played inside the bridge above the road the bin lorries used to get to the rubbish tips. |

Ann St. No many years later in WW2 a bomb hit this left hand side of the street & houses were demolished & people killed. My Ann St photo shows the street in 2002 with the gap where the bombed houses once were. |

Hewison's Papershop on the corner of Ellison St/Lyon St. This 1992 pic I've attached shows the shop in 1992 & it has been made to look like a Tudor Style property (which Hebburn never had) so it looked so out of place. Just try to imagine it without all that black woodwork |

St Andrew's Presbyterian Church. My Scottish grandfather Robert Dunn & his family attended this church & he helped ring the bells. This lovely snowy photo was taken about 10 yrs later by the late Stan Forster who was a Hawthorn Leslie's photographer. |

The Reay Gear Works. They'd taken over the sheds left by the Newcastle Shipbuilding Co who'd went bust after just two years (1919-21). The sheds were auctioned in 1925 & didn't sell. Sometime later Reays bought them. Later it became George Angus Gears & later still RW Transmissions. It finally closed in the mid 70s. A housing Estate now stands on this land & it is called 'Tyne View'. My photo shows the Factory in the background & across Prince Consort Rd. |

Tyne View Tce which once belonged to the Tennant's Chemical Works & which had gone by 1936. My relatives the McNeill family rented the part of the terrace nearest the camera. Alongside you can see the Tennant's family had a Tennis Court just as my relatives told me about. My great grandfather John McNeill also lived there for a time. |
