The original entrance to the landing stage went down a staircase in front of the present-day arcade to a walkway that ran underneath it and onto the landing stage. You can see it just on the left of this picture of the pierhead before the toilets and large central pavilion was added |

This building is currently used for an amusement arcade.
The small corner buildings - currently a bar and a cafe- are older than the large central building.
Compare to this 1880 image of the old bandstand that used to be in this location - image is from the National Media Museum Collection, cat 1990-5037-B1-2164, Photographer Francis Bedford, who died in 1894. The museum lists this as "No known copyright" as the photographer died over 70 years ago. |

The larger building at the far side is the Gents loos, the smaller one nearby is the ladies. Today the disabled loo (for both genders) is in the middle of the gents building and requires a "radar" key. |

This paddle steamer appears to be the SS La Marguerite operated by the Liverpool and North Wales Steamship Company. This is identified primarily by the bridge being between the two funnels. More details of this ship at http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/LaMarguerite.html. |
