Left hand side - power station coal yard on Ashgrove St. Above this is Strathclyde St, arched gable was Pennants Boiler Makers factory. The structure was bought and transported to the site after the Empire Exhibition Top left - Dalmarnock Goods Station. Other streets visible include Beechrove St, Dalmarnock Rd, Wardrobe St, Alan St. Chimney mid way along Strathclyde St belonged to a paint manufacturer. The area to the right of the factory was the site for the area's bomb shelter during WW2. The Strathclyde Cinema is visible towards the upper R.H. side. |

Dalmarnock Power Station Electricity Works, Opened 1920 by Glasgow Corporation Electricity Department, Work started in 1914 but was suspended after a year in 1915 because of WW1 but was started again before the end of the war. Dalmarnock Power Station was eventually commissioned in two stages, in 1920 and 1926, with various extensions in later years. Closed 1977 by South of Scotland Electricity Board, Largest size 237.5MW |
