Abbotsinch airfield - you can see the circle and the hangar with auxiliary accommodation. It had been opened for use by 602 (City of Glasgow) Royal Auxiliary Air Force Squadron in 1933, so was fairly new at this stage. The RAF HQ was created in 1936 and HMS Sanderling, the Naval Air Station in 1940. The aeroplanes in use would have been Westland Wapitis or Hawker Harts, as they changed over in 1934. |

This is a very historic bridge. It carries the Paisley Canal railway line over the White Cart water. It is the oldest bridge in the world that still carries a railway, having been originally built as a canal bridge in 1810 by Thomas Telford, long before the railways were established. |
