In 1962 KDMC asked Central Fife Civil Defence Corps, of which I was a member, if they could provide communications for the motor cycle racing in Beveridge Park. I was positioned on the top side of the Snake Bend with the instructions to radio through the numbers of 1st, 2nd & 3rd riders, this worked out fine until Bob McIntyre "The Flying Scotsman" on the ‘works’ Honda 350cc 4 passed on the last lap and I had to wait until the 2nd & 3rd riders were known before I radioed the information through, by which time Bob McIntyre had finished. This was reported in "The Sunday Post" that Bob McIntyre was faster than the speed of sound!

Used from 1948 to 1988, mainly (but not exclusively) for motorcycle racing.
