This is the cruiser HMS Lion, launched in Greenock in 1944 as the Minotaur-class cruiser HMS Defence. She was laid up after launching and was towed to Swan Hunter on the Tyne to be largely rebuilt and completion as the Tiger-class cruiser HMS Lion, not launched until 1960.
