Sandpit Lane- now all sadly gone. In my day (50s and 60s mainly) this held a yard with occasional seed sales, later a car park useful for the adjacent fish and chip shop. I do not recognise it now.Probably the most spoilt part of the town.

The Braintree County High School Main Building. It also used Bocking Place during my time, 1960-1966, but which had previously been the Intermediate School, where my father went to school pre WW2.

The Braintree County High School Gymnasium, and opposite the Congregational Church where the seasonal congregations and annual prize-giving took place. The Headmaster in my day was Dr Cordingley.

Howard Close, Howard Road at this time, and only half the length that it is now.The end house on the right hand side is now No.27. The later red brick Houses were flates and were constructed after WW2, the turning head at the end of the Close being connected to Cressing Road by a "Gant" as they were known locally.
