Two paddle steamers. These are "Queen Of Thanet" and "Queen Of Kent", belonging to the New Medway Steam Packet Company, which were originally mine sweepers built during WWI but in 1939 they were laid up out of service.They were subsequently sold to Red Funnel Steamers at Southampton in 1949 but were scrapped in 1951/52.

In the 1960s I remember this as a bomb disposal unit and the grounds around the buildings were strewn with defused bombs. I was fascinated by a flying bomb which was there..
