WENTWORTH HALL - now demolished. Dorking, Surrey (Coach House at post code RH5 6DQ) Became Wentworth Hall, a private boarding school for young ladies - original location of school was Wentworth Hall, Islington. WW2- base for Canadian troops Demolished 1961-1973. The coach house remains and has been converted. A survey in 2007 found the remains of the entrance hall mosaic which has been covered for its preservation. Now an outdor recreation centre and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Main source: Surrey County Council) Prior history suffers from confusion of names and locations. [ Sometimes confused with Ashurst Manor which is near to Ascot, SL5 7DD ] [ also sometimes confused with High Ashes Farm, post code RH5 6LS ]
