Canal Tavern was in this row. It was in the canal near here, ( more towards the canal bridge near Staveley, we think) that my late uncle Charlie disposed of his 0.32 Beretta automatic, a prize that he brought home from from his CMP service in Italy in WW2. We kids were mortified when he told us! A real gun, going rusty in the canal!
