Beaver Road School, destroyed, on 24 March 1943, by a bomb that initially hit the Victoria Hotel opposite. The children were saved by the action of the headmistress, Miss Adams, who evecuated the children to shelters, the last one entering the shelter as the bomb exploded. She is to be remembered through the naming of the brewhouse of the Curious Brewery now (2019) being built on the site. |
