The words Southern Railway have replaced the S.E.&C.R. as seen in EPW007655, following the amalgamation of the railways in 1923. As both stations - Tattenham Corner and Epsom Downs - now belonged to the Southern Railway it might have been more appropriate to have placed the name in view of the race goes. Epsom Downs station somewhat further from the race course had no such endorsement, see EPW006383 |

One of five 3 SUB electric multiple units of the Southern Railway third rail system seen in the station. This one is clearly a recent conversion from the earlier steam hauled coaches, with its fresh white roof standing out. The number of trains would suggest it is not a race day, with some spare sets in place to add to trains for rush hour services. |
