| JOVIAL SAILOR. This pub may well have gotten its name from the fact that prior to the railway being laid to the side of it, a canal ran to port carlisle enableing goods to be brought to the city from the sea. Perhaps many a sailor ended up very jovial indeed in the inn. |

| THE TEMPERANCE HALL. Many of the buildings around this area were built by the carr family who built their famous biscuit factory opposite in 1837. The hall was later turned into a bingo hall, currently a cycle shop (2012) |
