Maurice, I'm finding your comments very useful. Do you by any chance know where I can get a track plan for Havant station, preferably pre war. Thanks. ChrisL |

The level crossing on Leigh Road that was closed when the new Southern Railway station was built. The new station platforms, long enough for twelve-coach electric trains, extend west (left) from about the position of the footbridge seen here. |

By this time the railways were operating a common pool of wagons which would mean these vans from the NE (LNER) and the LMS would have taken a return load rather than working home empty. The sheeted wagon in between the vans would appear to be an old LSWR round ended open with tarpaulin rail. |

Various private owner coal wagons, one being unloaded onto a motor delivery lorry. The habit of storing coal in wagons in yards both reduced the efficiency of the use of wagons and blocked yards to other traffic, becoming one of the elements that caused the long term demise of such traffic on the railway. |

A former London and South Western Railway Road Van (Goods Brake Van) with some unusual boards mounted on the corners of its roof. I have no idea what these might be for as they do not match the normal equipment for tunnel gauging |

Former London and South Western Railway four and a half set (fixed formation of four non-corridor coaches and a six wheeled van - under the foot bridge) hauled by a former LSWR 4-4-0 tender locomotive, now all in Southern green. |
