The house and garden have been occupied by Stephen Flamsteed, Rev. John Flamsteed FRS (first Astronomer Royal), John Whitehurst FRS, Joseph Wright of Derby ARA and John Smith the founder of Smith's of Derby Clockmakers. Whitehurst is believed to have received Benjamin Franklin at the address as late as the summer of 1774.
The house was listed as Grade II by Historic England in 2024 after the endeavour of the Derby Civic Society |
