| these are troughs on stilts made of pitch pine to carry the waist grinding a and polishing rouge and sand flushed with water
they used to have men building up the sides of the burgies which were full of water which drained away leaving the burgy banks |

| The beginnings of the 'Burgies'. There are what appear to be lengths of pylons reaching into the dumping area carrying ariel bucket-ways. Has anyone more information about them? |
