| Level crossing, Longngsight mineral railwy, from BR Longsight sidings (LMS/LNWR) to Belle Vue gas works, round the speedway/athletics track to site next to Hyde rd. Think the sidings there became tram sidings after gas works closed? |

The first greyhound track to open in GB, 24 July 1927, and thought to be the first purpose built track outside the USA. Presumably construction still ongoing in this photo. Grass track and then speedway racing followed in 1928 but soon moved to Hyde Road. |

| Belle Vue (Hyde Road) Speedway Stadium; home to Belle Vue Aces 1929 - 1987. Also home to Manchester Central FC 1928 - 1932. Later home venue of Broughton (later Belle Vue after 1946) Rangers Rugby League Club 1933 - 1955. Demolished 1987 and now a car auction site. |

All true, but the site had a previous history as an athletics track in 1887, becoming home to Salford Harriers AC. Its the running track visible in this photo from 1927. |
