It looks like it is in the right place to be the "Red".

Withington once had it's own three lions, Red, White and Golden. The "Golden Lion" was demolished a few years ago and the site is still derelict as of December 2014. The "White Lion still stands but is now a Sainsbury's Local store.

The Albert Club is still there, two snooker tables, multiple tennis courts,large bowling green and well kept real ale.

Interesting to hear that it's lasted all this time ...

Opened in 1880 by the Midland Railway and known by that company as the Manchester South District Line.

I started work here in 1955 as a junior porter straight from school my duties were varied from sweeping the platforms to fetching the water for the signalman in a 2 gallon water carrier ,had good times here with good staff to work with
