It looks like it is in the right place to be the "Red". Withington once had it's own three lions, Red, White and Golden. The "Golden Lion" was demolished a few years ago and the site is still derelict as of December 2014. The "White Lion still stands but is now a Sainsbury's Local store. |

I started work here in 1955 as a junior porter straight from school my duties were varied from sweeping the platforms to fetching the water for the signalman in a 2 gallon water carrier ,had good times here with good staff to work with |
