I also understand it is a very large cooling tower used by the electricity board. I was at the funeral of Barry Basset who had a passion for local history, and the story was told of Barry as a boy using the pools below the towers for swimming as they were always warm. They used to get thrown out by the security man if they were caught. |

This is a cooling tower, directly opposite St Barnabas junior school gate. Still in use when I left the school in 1960. |
