This would appear to be a worked out gravel pit. This area was later filled in and became the site of a timber yard, which is now the site of a Travis Perkins building supplies depot. |

Pair of working narrow boats. They have a "good road" as Batchworth lock appears to be full, ready for them. The front boat (left) is the motor, towing the unpowered butty. The stream of tubulence from the back of the butty will be due to it being steered round the bend. |

This canal known as Salters Cut which branched off the Grand Junction canal at Batchworth lock and went as far as Salters Brewery seen in images EPW019295 and EPW 0192179 Later known as the Gas Works Arm and took coke to the Rickmansworth Gas Works |
