Old Cheltenham Corporation yard. My father was the Corporation Blacksmith. The pin position is centred over his forge/workshop. Other than repairing road rollers and dustcart bodies, he also fabricated railings for the Corporation, and repairedvarious road maintenance equipment. I remember being fascinated by the semi-circular sliding covers over the dustcart load beds... as I remember;he was always repairing the damage caused by the dustmen continually sliding them up and down. I seem to remember that they were Commer Karriers.

The Great Western Railway's St James's Station, conveniently situated a few hundred yards from the centre of the town until closed thanks to Dr Beeching in the mid 1960s.

Yes, a nice station in a great location. But, as a terminus, operationally an unnecessary expense.

Walk out of the railway station. Immediately to your left (opposite St Gregory's) is a 4 storey building. It's large, still standing and looks like an old cinema.

If you go there today, you see some small tiles on the floor... Could anyone identify this for me ?

Thanks

The title of this picture mis-identifies the 3 churches. They are (from the left): St.Gregory's RC Church, St.Matthew's and St.Mary's (the ancient parish church of Cheltenham).
