'Princess Margaret', 'Mountbatten Class' hovercraft SR.N4. 'Princess Margaret' was the prototype of the class, the largest civilian hovercraft built. She entered service with Seaspeed in August 1968, operating between Dover and Boulogne and able to carry up to 30 cars and 254 passengers. The Bleriot Memorial. This marks the spot where Louis Bleriot landed on the 25th July 1909, completing the first aeroplane crossing of the Channel from France to England. The flight took 36 minutes 30 seconds and Bleriot, flying a Bleriot Type XI of his own design and manufacture, won the Daily Mail's prize of £1,000.
