Fairey Firefly of the Royal Navy Air Service making a low level flight over Tilbury Docks. Questions: where was it flying from and to, and was this part of the flight authorised? |

It's the Fleet Air Arm. The Royal Naval Air Service combined with the Royal Flying Corps on 1st April, 1918 to form the Royal Air Force. As to what the Firefly pilot was up to, we shall never know. It could have been anything from a navigation exercise to an unauthorised sight-seeing "jolly". |
