Having checked other pictures - Yes, it is. And there is the BOAC Speedbird above the stripes across the fin.

It's a Bristol Britannia. The Comet has a dihedral tailplane and a more tapered fin.

A Beverley I think, I remember one of them on some kind of trials at RAF Carnaby in E Yorks, 1951 If I remember correctly.
