Wyckhill House GL54 1HY Grade 2 listed. English Heritage Building ID: 131000 Large house now used as a hotel. Basically late C19 but possibly incorporating parts of a C18 house. Early history of site is dubious. History; the original house was built in the early C18 and was enlarged by the addition of a south wing before 1775. The house was extensively altered and enlarged after 1875. In 1958 the west wing (the oldest part of the house was gutted by fire). By 1802 the house had a walled garden and pleasure grounds. East wing added 1913 Informal 18th-century parkland, with a remaining formal view or avenue from the south front, formal gardens to the south of the orangery, a walled garden with a wide range of associated buildings, ornamental woodland walks, terraced lawns to the west of the house and formal and informal gardens immediately around the house. 1962: The house was restored.
