Ding, ding, ding, ding or Ding, ding, ding - ding. Breakdown train going to or coming from clear(ing) the line. The dings are the signal box bell codes for BR days, 4 or 3-1. Knowing the date it would not be difficult to see where it was going by searching the accident reports. If the accident required a crane it would have required a report unless it was going to pick up something off the 'road' in a yard. It might have been off to some engineering work, such as bridge replacement. It is a Monday.
