Site of Brunner Mond & Co factory. During WW1, this factory was engaged in the purification of TNT for military use. On 19th January 2017, there occurred an explosion at the works, resulting in the death of 73 souls and injury to another 400. The plant and much of the surrounding area was flattened or seriously damaged in what became know as the Silvertown Explosion.
